Just your average, everyday $30 million magazine launch. This Ziff Davis publication was one of their most ambitious ever and demonstrates our experience with Really Big Jobs. Brian Day was hired as startup design director because of his extensive art department management skills- and he needed them. When he arrived at his office in Foster City, CA, the elevator doors opened to reveal-- nothing. An empty, echoing highrise floor of raw columns and a mountain of flattened cardboard boxes. With his big slice of the budget, Brian duly built cubes and walls, bought furniture and equipment, hired and trained an entire art department then collaborated with Anthony Kosner of AK Design to design and launch the magazine. All before lunch (just kidding.)
